►Welcome to the web site for the Vent Kids of Alabama Support group. We are a group made up of about 30 families who have children living at home on ventilators (life support systems). ►The support group was founded in October 2002 by parents who wanted to reach out and help other families walking in their shoes so they would never feel alone. Talking to other families that have the same situation makes all the difference in the world. We have been a great comfort to each other. Hopefully we also help those families that are first making the adjustment from hospital to home. ►There are so many different aspects to deal with when you first discover that your child has a disability. The grieving process is different for everyone. We hope to be able to offer encouragement and support to those who need it. We all benefit from helping each other. |

►Having a child with a disability most definitely makes you thankful for what you have. We know that God has blessed us with these special children and we want to give them the best life we can. There are so many rewards and responsibilities that go along with having a special child. ►One of the responsibilities is to help others that are in a similar situation. This support group makes it possible to share our knowledge and experiences with each other. We want our group to be a support and source of strength for all of our families. God continues to show us His love and understanding. We know that god will make all things possible through Him.
